This year we have a goal of helping all students achieve regular attendance, 95% of school days or more! That’s 8 absences or less over the course of our 171 day school year.
If your child must be absent or tardy, call the school at 503-621-3426 to notify us or email the front office at attendance@sauvieislandschool.org. Please review your SIS Handbook for more detailed information about attendance policies.
Please complete and submit this form to the SIS office or attendance@sauvieislandschool.org for all vacation/planned absences.
Please keep your child home from school if they are exhibiting any of the following symptoms:
A fever over 100.4° Fahrenheit (F) or 38° Celsius (C) – Your child can return to school after they’ve been fever-free for 24 hours without medicines that treat or prevent fever.
Signs they are weak and tired. This is common with the flu.
Diarrhea
Fatigue
Vomiting 2 times or more in a 24-hour period.
Coughing that disrupts normal activity.
Wheezing or shortness of breath.
Pain from earache, headache, sore throat, or recent injury.
Yellow or green drainage from the eye(s).
A new rash – Not all rashes mean your child must stay home from school. Check with their doctor or health care provider.
Positive diagnosis or suspicion of an infectious disease including but not limited to Covid, Measles, Strep Throat, Chickenpox, Pinkeye, Whooping Cough, Flu, etc.
If your student expresses reluctance to get to school, is often sick, or you are struggling to find transportation, please reach out so we can find ways to help.
A parent, guardian, or student has the right to request an evaluation for Special Education eligibility, or if the student already is eligible for Special Education, request an Individual Education Plan (IEP) meeting to review the plan if you believe absences are the result of a disability or suspected disability.
